HICOS – Human-Centred Innovation through Cognitive and Behavioural Science

HICOS is an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to advancing human-centred innovation through the study and application of cognitive and behavioural science. The Centre investigates the cognitive, emotional and behavioural processes that shape people’s decisions, experiences and interactions in contexts of technological, organisational and social innovation.

By integrating cognitive and behavioural science with marketing, management, experience design, artificial intelligence, communication, sustainability and public policy, HICOS develops evidence-based approaches to innovation that place people at the centre of design, strategy and decision-making. Its research examines how individuals—whether consumers, citizens or members of organisations—understand, evaluate and engage with products, services, digital platforms, automated systems and complex decision environments.

In collaboration with the University of Milano-Bicocca Foundation, public institutions, companies and other stakeholders, HICOS develops applied research projects, advanced education programmes and knowledge transfer initiatives. Through qualitative, quantitative, experimental and behavioural methodologies, the Centre contributes to the design of innovative, responsible and sustainable solutions that create value for people, organisations and society.
