In this seminar, Professor  João de Sousa Assis (ISCAL-Lisbon Accounting and Business School)  will examine the evolving intersection between European Union competition law and consumer welfare, with a specific focus on the unique structural dynamics of digital markets.

The session opens with a core lecture analyzing market power, platform neutrality, non-discrimination, and platform market structures to explore how regulatory frameworks protect and advance consumer interests in Europe. Following the lecture, an interactive activity will explore non-traditional, broader socio-economic approaches to competition policy and will engage participants in group dynamics, applying theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios.
