BEFuture - tourism, sustainability, digitalisation, innovation, MICE, events and congresses, skills, regenerative, SME, Financial Support, Capacities
The BEFuture seeks to leverage talent, innovation and technology in support of the transformation of Europe’s MICE tourism sector into a regenerative, resilient and responsible industry. Events that minimise their waste and carbon footprint, that are sustainable, inclusive and with positive and lasting impact. For that, it will set an open innovation space and network that generates ideas and exchanges knowledge for future industry growth. Using the Sustainable Development Goals framework, the project will identify best practices, and then develop talent, and build innovation capacity among SMEs and industry professionals, organising co-creation workshops and other innovation events that explore technologies, strategies, and trends, and bring together the people and professionals who will shape the future of the industry. Further, to bring forward this new generation of events, BEFuture will roll out an acceleration programme that will support at least 80 innovative projects from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, and a comprehensive communication and awareness-raising campaign, which will take advantage of major industry events such as the IBTM World, IMEX, and Mobile World Congress, amongst other. Overall, the project will contribute to strengthen the competitiveness of the European MICE tourism sector and turn Europe into a global benchmark of innovation, technology, and sustainability of the events’ industry. This enticing project is led by the Catalan Tourist Board, in coordination with Visit Flanders, BSOs such as Linkeus, VDVO and B.Link, and knowledge entities such as NHL Stenden – ETFI and University of Milano-Bicocca. The project will focus on the territorial Region of Piedmont (north-west of Italy) and most specifically in the city of Turin and in the village of Settimo Torinese.

SIM is developed through 4 main phases 1.Engage (M1-12), putting in place a research activity aimed to assess needs of companies and local communities and an engagement strategy, creating local SIM networks 2.Design (M12-19), listing skills, methods and learning outcomes of the SIM CV and co-designing the education programmes to be launched in 5 target countries (Austria,Croatia,Greece,France,Italy) 3.Empower (M20-31) where partners will deliver the SIM Educational programme targeting young and adult professionals and aimed to build their capacities to work with companies in generating community engagement initiatives at local level 4.Evaluate&Exploit (M1-36),assessing the impact of SIM at different scales, and nurturing partnerships and alliances with local and EU stakeholders to ensure up-scaling The SIM Education programme is piloted in 5 countries, with the aim of reaching about 150 learners and at least 50 European companies. Other major project outputs are a Report on the link between CSR & Community Development;5 Local Hackathons;1 International SIM School;15 Social Impact Initiatives. The Social Impact Manager will be an emerging profession endowed with the relevant skills to include companies in cooperation schemes with their local communities, thus encouraging resilience at community level. The project ambition is that European companies can play a greater role in the future in solving the main societal challenges of our times, also thanks to the support of internal staff (the SIMs), trained and fully equipped to nurture alliances in local communities, and design and launch sustainable solutions addressing local challenges.
TWIN SEEDS - Towards a World Integrated and Socio-economically Balanced European Economic Development Scenario
The objective of the TWIN SEEDS project is to investigate changes in international trade and production patterns, specifically in global value chains (GVCs), both those of a longer-term nature (driven by the "twin seeds": technological developments and geo-political changes) and… Leggi tutto those that are taking place in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The project will examine the impacts of these changes on employment, job quality, social and regional cohesion, on patterns of growth and competitiveness, as well as their environmental implications. The analysis will provide the basis to map out forward-looking policy scenarios (including trade and investment, industrial, regional, education/training and social policies) that allow Europe to secure decent work and working conditions, rapid progress towards resource-efficiency and decarbonisation, security of supply for strategic goods and sustainable, inclusive and competitive growth in the years to come. The research will be based on a thorough multi-level (global, national, regional, sectoral, firm level) research framework, relying on a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods, on multidisciplinary knowledge (international economists and trade policy experts, regional economists, international business and organisational experts, political scientists) and on an extensive stakeholder engagement.

This CREMLINplus project proposal is about European-Russian scientific and technical collaboration in the field of research infrastructures. It takes up and addresses all recommendations that have been worked out in close European-Russian collaboration within three years of the Horizon 2020 project CREMLIN. CREMLINplus… Leggi tutto is a voluminous project, a grand endeavour, setting out to fully implement jointly elaborated EuropeanRussian collaboration roadmaps and to ensure that the framework conditions will be improved and continually harmonized. The project will operate in two directions, following two main strategic goals: (1) CREMLINplus will strongly advance the five Russian megascience projects in close European-Russian collaboration. This objective refers to the technical preparation of the megascience projects for European and international utilisation. The project will allow European-Russian collaborative top teams to develop and deliver finest, novel cutting-edge technologies for both the Russian megascience projects and their European RI counterparts. (2) CREMLINplus will prepare a defined set of Russian research infrastructures, hosted at eleven laboratories, for not only Russian, but also European and international access and utilisation. For this purpose, suitable framework conditions for opening and accessing these Russian facilities will be developed and implemented. A comprehensive base of knowledge and expertise for RI managers and scientists at various levels will be created. The 35 European and Russian participants of the project have come together to build the broad and balanced consortium, connected through a history of trustful collaboration. They are the relevant entities in the domain of research infrastructures in Europe and in Russia, and thus provide the necessary strength, commitment and power to implement the project plan.
OPERAS-P - Preparing open access in the european research area through scholarly communication
OPERAS-P (Preparation) project will support the development of OPERAS, the European Research infrastructure for open access publications in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH). The project will further the development of the infrastructure in view of achieving the necessary scientific,… Leggi tutto technical and community maturity. To achieve this goal, OPERAS-P will address the necessary requirements according the Work Programme with three objectives: supporting the ESFRI application, start the implementation of innovative services, and support the expansion of the consortium. First objective will include the conceptual framework for a Governance plan, including a vision statement and two Landscape Studies: one per country, one for end-users. This work will include a business model addressing the long-term sustainability of the infrastructure. In parallel, this work will be supported by the implementation of the AISBL statutes in the infrastructure. The implementation of innovative services will address the development of a transnational access to publication services, based on the adoption of common standards, the interoperability between publishing services and bridging towards the EOSC marketplace. This work will rely on the problematics identified in the White Paper OPERAS-P will support the development of the consortium with an outreach strategy based on the Landscape Study. This body of work will stand in the continuity of the work already realized in former project OPERAS-D, in particular the Design Study.
